Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is an industry leader in providing transformative learning experiences for Pre K-12 students and teachers in more than 11,500 schools nationwide. PLTW's cutting-edge curriculum empowers students to solve real-world challenges through engaging and hands-on learning projects. Amador Valley has the PLTW Gateway program at all three of the middle schools in the district and the PLTW Launch program at one of the elementary schools.
VEX Robotics is the exclusive robotics platform offered to PLTW schools, bringing new and exciting opportunities for students across the United States. PLTW’s courses have been updated with rigorous new lessons implementing both VEX EDR and VEX IQ. This ensures that as students progress through their education, they will continue to run the full gamut of robotics, from design, to building, to programming. For more information on PLTW and to learn more on how you or your student can become involved, visit their website at www.pltw.org. VEX is proud to support the following PLTW pathways:
“[One of the] great models of the new CTE succeeding all across the country.”
Former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan
“[A] model for 21st century career and technical education.”
Harvard Graduate School of Education
Many of our team members take classes in Amador Valley's Project Lead the Way Network (PLTW) in conjunction to their work in Avengineers. Concepts that are taught in PLTW find parallels with skills taught and applied in the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) program.
Amador Valley's PLTW provides many classes after the foundationary classes of Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) and Principles of Engineering (POE). Students who choose to continue in the program can choose from specialized classes in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Biotechnical Engineering, Digital Electronics, Computer Science Principles, and more.
